Great News | Vivlaser Wins “Best Laser Technology Innovation Award” at the 2026 OFweek Vico Cup

On the afternoon of July 30, the Core Components Technology Forum for the Laser Industry — one of the key sub-forums of the OFweek 2026 China Laser Industry High-Quality Development Summit — was held in Shenzhen. At the close of the forum, the 2026 OFweek Vico Cup Annual Laser Industry Awards ceremony was announced. Shenzhen Vivlaser Technology Co., Ltd. (Vivlaser) won the "Best Laser Technology Innovation Award" for its self-developed 10 kW-Class Ultra-Large Rectangular Spot Semiconductor Laser.

About the "OFweek Vico Cup" Annual Awards

The "OFweek Vico Cup Annual Laser Industry Awards," hosted by OFweek, is one of the most influential annual awards in China's laser industry. Its results have long been regarded as a key bellwether for technological innovation and market performance across the sector. Winners are selected by a panel of industry experts and institutional representatives, based on a combination of technical innovation, product maturity, market application results, and industry influence.

The Award-Winning Technology: 10 kW-Class Ultra-Large Rectangular Spot Semiconductor Laser

The award-winning product targets a specific niche: large-area, high-efficiency heat treatment. Traditional heat sources often fall short when processing large metal or composite workpieces — slow heating, high heat loss, and poor temperature-control precision are common shortcomings. Uneven heating in particular tends to drag down the efficiency and yield of an entire production line.

At the core of Vivlaser's award-winning technology is its proprietary multi-chip beam-combining technology, which merges what would otherwise be multiple separate laser beams into a single rectangular spot capable of covering an ultra-large area. This enables fast, uniform heating across large surfaces, fundamentally solving the "slow, lossy, hard-to-control" problems of conventional heat sources.

Key Technical Highlights Noted by the Judges

  • Superior energy efficiency: Thanks to an efficient thermal-dissipation package and a highly integrated optical structure, conversion losses from electrical to thermal energy are kept very low. Electro-optical conversion efficiency is markedly better than conventional fiber laser routes, delivering the same heating effect with less power consumption.
  • Outstanding spot uniformity: Energy distribution across the large rectangular spot is highly uniform, producing gentle, even heating with virtually no localized hot spots or edge overburn. This significantly reduces the risk of workpiece deformation or cracking and improves surface-quality consistency.
  • Spot shape customizable to the process: Spot shape and size are not fixed — both rectangular and circular options are available, and can be flexibly designed around a customer's workpiece dimensions, fixture space, and motion path.
  • Easy to integrate into existing lines: The equipment comes with standardized control and communication interfaces, allowing direct integration with AGVs, robots, linear modules, roller lines, and other automation equipment. It supports recipe-based power switching, zone heating, and adaptive temperature control — functioning either as a fixed-station heat source unit or a mobile, tracking heating module.

Applications Already Under Validation

On the application side, this technology has already shown potential to replace conventional heat sources in a number of scenarios: preheating before high-end metal welding, dehumidification and stress relief for marine and rail-transit components, curing and shaping of composite materials, and various surface/coating preheating processes. For industrial equipment integrators, rail-transit and shipbuilding manufacturers, composite-material processors, and customers advancing production-line automation, this is a laser heat-source solution that can be integrated directly into existing lines.

Behind the Innovation: Sustained Investment in In-House R&D

Founded in 2017, Vivlaser is a National High-Tech Enterprise focused on the R&D, manufacturing, and sales of semiconductor lasers, and one of China's leading manufacturers of direct semiconductor laser systems ranging from kilowatt- to 10-kilowatt-class power.

With two production bases in Shenzhen and Taizhou, the company has built in-house R&D and manufacturing capabilities spanning chip packaging, optical shaping, fiber coupling, and full-system integration. This "Best Laser Technology Innovation Award" for the 10 kW-Class Ultra-Large Rectangular Spot Semiconductor Laser reflects the industry's recognition of Vivlaser's independent innovation capability in core high-power semiconductor laser technology, and further strengthens the company's commitment to sustained R&D investment and the advancement of domestically developed, high-end semiconductor laser equipment.

Notably, this marks the second consecutive year Vivlaser has won a Technology Innovation award at the OFweek Vico Cup Annual Laser Industry Awards — in 2025, the company won "Best Semiconductor Laser Technology Innovation Award" for its high-power semiconductor laser technology; in 2026, it won "Best Laser Technology Innovation Award" once again, this time for the 10 kW-Class Ultra-Large Rectangular Spot Semiconductor Laser. Two consecutive years of recognition further affirm the industry's confidence in Vivlaser's continuous innovation capability.
